Lincoln Heights (TV series)

Lincoln Heights is an American teen drama television series that aired on ABC Family (now Freeform) from January 8, 2007, to November 16, 2009. The series follows the Sutton family, led by Eddie Sutton (Russell Hornsby), a police officer who moves his family back to his childhood neighborhood of Lincoln Heights in Los Angeles, a predominantly African-American community known for gang violence and poverty.

The show explores themes of family, community, identity, race, class, and the challenges of raising teenagers in a difficult environment. Eddie and his wife, Jennifer (Nicki Micheaux), navigate the complexities of balancing their careers with raising their three children: Cassie (Erica Hubbard), Tay (Mishon Ratliff), and Lizzie (Rhyon Nicole Brown).

Cassie, the eldest daughter, deals with issues of love, relationships, and social pressures. Tay, the middle child, grapples with his identity as he tries to find his place in the neighborhood and avoid gang involvement. Lizzie, the youngest, observes the changes around her and adapts to her new environment.

Throughout its four seasons, Lincoln Heights addressed various social issues, including gang violence, drug use, police brutality, racial profiling, and economic inequality. The show aimed to provide a realistic portrayal of urban life while highlighting the importance of family, education, and community support. The series was created by Seth Freeman and Elizabeth Hunter.
