Elmsted

Elmsted is a village and civil parish in the Folkestone and Hythe district of Kent, England. It is located approximately 8 miles (13 km) north of Folkestone and lies within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The village is small and largely rural, characterized by agricultural land and scattered residential properties. The parish church is dedicated to St. Mary.

Historically, Elmsted was primarily an agricultural community. While farming remains important, the population has diversified, with residents working in various sectors outside the immediate area. The village has a village hall which serves as a community hub for local events and activities.

Elmsted features in historical records, including the Domesday Book. Its name is thought to derive from Old English, potentially combining "elm" with "stede," meaning "elm place."
