Dublin Central (Dáil constituency)

Dublin Central is a Dáil Éireann constituency in Ireland. It elects 3 Teachtaí Dála (TDs) to the Dáil using the single transferable vote (STV) form of proportional representation. It is located in the city of Dublin, covering much of the north inner city.

History and Boundaries

The constituency was created for the 1948 general election, replacing part of the Dublin North constituency. Its boundaries have been revised several times since then, reflecting population shifts and the overall composition of Dáil constituencies in Dublin. The most recent boundary changes came into effect for the 2020 general election. These changes involved transferring areas to and from neighboring constituencies such as Dublin North-West, Dublin Central, and Dublin Bay North.
