Camael
Camael, also spelled Chamuel, is one of the archangels in Jewish and Christian angelology, though his inclusion in recognized archangel lists varies. His name is believed to mean "He who sees God" or "He who seeks God." Other spellings include Camiel, Camiul, Khamael, Samael (occasionally confused, though Samael is often considered a darker figure), and Kemuel.
Camael is often associated with strength, courage, and divine justice. He is sometimes considered the leader of the Powers, one of the celestial hierarchies. He is said to inspire individuals to stand up for what is right and to confront injustice. He is also considered a patron of those who are persecuted and oppressed.
In some Kabbalistic traditions, Camael is associated with the Sephirah Gevurah on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, which represents strength, judgment, and severity.
Specific attributions to Camael differ depending on the source. Some accounts attribute him as the angel who wrestled with Jacob (Genesis 32:24-30), although this is more commonly attributed to Michael or Uriel. He is also sometimes identified as the angel who appeared to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Camael is invoked for protection, courage, and justice. He is believed to assist in overcoming challenges and in finding inner strength.
