Kolbotn

Kolbotn is a suburban area and the administrative centre of the municipality of Nordre Follo in Viken county, Norway. It is located approximately 15 kilometers south of Oslo, along the Oslofjord.

Kolbotn is characterized by a mix of residential areas, green spaces, and commercial centres. It is a relatively affluent area with good access to both natural recreational areas and the urban amenities of Oslo. The area is served by the Kolbotn Station on the Østfold Line railway.

Historically, Kolbotn developed as a railway station community following the opening of the Østfold Line in 1879. Its proximity to Oslo and its attractive natural surroundings have contributed to its growth as a residential area.

Notable features of Kolbotn include the Kolbotn sports club (Kolbotn IL), which has been successful in women's football, and the Kolbotn municipal building. The area is also known for its relatively high percentage of detached houses.
