Erbeskopf
Erbeskopf is the highest point in the Rhineland-Palatinate state of Germany. It is located in the Hunsrück region, near the town of Thalfang. The summit reaches an elevation of 816 meters (2,677 feet) above sea level.
The area around Erbeskopf is a popular destination for outdoor activities throughout the year. In the winter months, it is a popular skiing and snowboarding area, featuring several ski lifts and slopes. During the warmer months, hiking and mountain biking are common activities. The name "Erbeskopf" is thought to derive from the German word "Erbse," meaning "pea," potentially referring to the shape or size of the mountain. The area is also significant for its Celtic history; remnants of Celtic settlements and fortifications can be found nearby.
Due to its elevation, Erbeskopf also houses a weather radar station, providing meteorological data for the region.
