The Rest (Bombay) cricket team
The Rest (Bombay) was a first-class cricket team in India, primarily active in the Bombay Pentangular tournament. The team was comprised of players who were not affiliated with the other four teams that typically competed in the Pentangular: the Europeans, the Hindus, the Muslims, and the Parsees. The Rest team served as a representative side for other communities and individuals within the Bombay Presidency who did not fit into the existing communal categories. The composition of The Rest team could vary considerably from year to year. The Bombay Pentangular, in which The Rest participated, was a significant domestic cricket tournament in pre-independence India, known for its communal nature. After the Partition of India in 1947, the Pentangular was discontinued, as its communal basis became increasingly untenable in the newly independent nation. Thus, The Rest team ceased to exist following the tournament's termination.
