Economy: The local economy is largely based on agriculture, fishing, and tourism. Kampot pepper, a protected geographical indication (PGI) product, is highly prized internationally. Salt production from coastal salt fields is also a significant industry. Tourism has been growing in recent years, with visitors drawn to the relaxed atmosphere of Kampot town, nearby Bokor National Park, and the coastal areas.

History: Kampot has a long history as a trading port. During the French colonial period, it served as a key port and transportation hub. The area was also a site of Khmer Rouge activity in the 1970s.

Kampot Town: The town of Kampot is a charming riverside city with French colonial architecture. It is a popular base for exploring the surrounding area, including Bokor National Park, pepper plantations, and beaches. The town offers a range of accommodations, restaurants, and bars.
