Walter Borden
Walter Borden (born 1942) is a Canadian actor, playwright, and poet. He is a prominent figure in the Black Canadian arts community and is known for his powerful stage presence and insightful portrayals of complex characters, particularly those dealing with themes of race, identity, and social justice.
Borden's career spans several decades, and he has performed in numerous theatre productions, films, and television shows. He has also written and performed his own one-man shows, including the acclaimed Tightrope Time: Among the Seven Deadly Sins, which explores themes of aging, sexuality, and spirituality.
Borden is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Achievement Award, among other honours, recognizing his contributions to Canadian arts and culture and his advocacy for social change. He is considered a significant voice in Canadian theatre and literature. He identifies as gay and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
