Hadad (son of Bedad)
Hadad (son of Bedad) was an Edomite king mentioned in the Hebrew Bible (Genesis 36:35-36; 1 Chronicles 1:46-47). He reigned in Edom after the death of Husham and before the reign of Samlah. The biblical texts offer limited information about his reign or specific accomplishments. The Bible states that he defeated the Midianites in the field of Moab. His capital city was Avith. While the Bible provides genealogical information, little beyond his immediate lineage and military victory is known about Hadad, son of Bedad. No extrabiblical sources directly confirm his existence or reign. He should be distinguished from other figures named Hadad appearing in ancient Near Eastern history.
