SROSS-C2

The SROSS-C2 (Stretched Rohini Satellite Series-C2) was an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) satellite launched in 1994. It was part of the SROSS series of satellites, designed to carry out scientific and technological experiments in low Earth orbit. The primary objective of SROSS-C2 was to determine the trajectories of the debris created by earlier PSLV launch vehicle debris as well as other space debris. It also carried the Gamma Ray Burst Detector (GRBD) experiment to study gamma-ray bursts. The satellite was launched by the ASLV-D4 launch vehicle from Sriharikota. SROSS-C2 re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere in 2001, completing its mission life. Data from the GRBD was used by ISRO and shared with the scientific community.
