Triangle Region (Denmark)

The Triangle Region (Danish: Trekantområdet) is a cooperative association and informal region in Denmark, encompassing seven municipalities in the eastern part of Jutland. These municipalities are Billund, Fredericia, Haderslev, Kolding, Middelfart, Vejen, and Vejle. While not an officially recognized administrative region of Denmark, the Triangle Region functions as a collaborative platform for economic development, infrastructure projects, and cultural initiatives among the member municipalities.

The name "Triangle Region" derives from the geographical triangle formed by the cities of Kolding, Vejle, and Fredericia. This area has historically been an important transportation hub, connecting different parts of Denmark and serving as a gateway to the rest of Europe.

The region's economy is diverse, with strengths in logistics, manufacturing, tourism, and renewable energy. The presence of major infrastructure, including the Little Belt Bridge and the Funen Motorway, facilitates trade and transport. Billund Airport, located within the region, is a major international airport.

The Triangle Region municipalities cooperate on issues such as regional planning, business development, tourism promotion, and education. This collaboration aims to strengthen the region's competitiveness and improve the quality of life for its inhabitants. The cooperation is based on voluntary agreements and does not involve a formal regional government.
