77th Street station (IRT Lexington Avenue Line)
The 77th Street station is a local station on the IRT Lexington Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 77th Street and Lexington Avenue in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, it is served by the 6 train at all times, and the 4 and 5 trains during rush hours in the peak direction.
The station has two side platforms and four tracks. The two center tracks are used by express trains. It is a typical local station, with mosaics and tilework common to the original IRT subway stations. The platforms are slightly offset.
The station opened on July 17, 1918, as part of the extension of the Lexington Avenue Line. The surrounding neighborhood includes residential buildings, restaurants, and shops.
