Creation (American band)
Creation was an American rock band, active primarily in the late 1960s. Formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, they are known for their psychedelic rock sound and energetic live performances. The band's original lineup consisted of Jay Traynor (vocals, formerly of Jay and the Americans), Russ D'Andrea (guitar), Al Barker (bass), and Dave Troy (drums).
Creation gained a following through extensive touring, particularly within the northeastern United States. They released several singles, including "I'm on Fire," which achieved regional success. While they were associated with the burgeoning psychedelic scene, their music also incorporated elements of garage rock and pop.
Despite their regional popularity and critical acclaim within certain circles, Creation did not achieve widespread national recognition. Internal tensions and evolving musical tastes contributed to their eventual disbandment in the early 1970s.
While they never achieved major commercial success, Creation's music has continued to be appreciated by collectors and fans of 1960s psychedelic rock. Their recordings have been reissued on various compilation albums, contributing to a renewed interest in their work.
