Soana (river)

The Soana is a river in Piedmont, Italy. It is a right-bank tributary of the Orco, which in turn is a tributary of the Po.

The river's source is in the Gran Paradiso National Park, specifically from glaciers on the slopes of Monte Gran Paradiso. It flows through the Val Soana, a valley known for its rugged terrain and relatively isolated villages. The river is characterized by its fast-flowing, cold water.

The Soana joins the Orco near Pont Canavese. The river's course is entirely within the Metropolitan City of Turin.

Historically, the river has been important for agriculture and small-scale hydroelectric power generation in the valley. The surrounding area also relies on the river for tourism, primarily for activities such as hiking and fishing.
