Buggerru

Buggerru is a coastal village and comune (municipality) in the Province of South Sardinia, Italy. It is located on the western coast of Sardinia, along the Costa Verde (Green Coast). Historically a mining town, primarily focused on lead and zinc extraction, Buggerru's economy has shifted towards tourism since the decline of the mining industry.

The area around Buggerru features dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and significant remnants of its mining past, including the Galleria Henry (Henry Gallery), a tunnel carved through the rock that offers visitors a glimpse into the history of mining operations in the region. The coastline is popular for activities such as surfing, windsurfing, and fishing.

The village's name is believed to derive from either the Catalan "Buger" or the Sardinian "Buggeru," both referring to a type of Mediterranean shrub.
