Hurricane Sandra (2015)

Hurricane Sandra (2015) was a powerful tropical cyclone that became the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, based on its maximum sustained winds. Forming in late November of 2015, Sandra rapidly intensified, reaching Category 4 status on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Its peak intensity saw maximum sustained winds of 150 mph (240 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 924 mbar (hPa).

The hurricane weakened significantly before making landfall in Baja California Sur, Mexico, as a tropical storm. Although it made landfall weakened, Sandra still brought heavy rainfall and gusty winds to the region, causing some minor flooding and damage.

Despite its record-breaking intensity, the overall impact of Hurricane Sandra was relatively limited due to its weakening before landfall and the sparsely populated area affected. There were no reported fatalities directly attributed to the storm.

The remnants of Sandra brought increased precipitation to parts of the Southwestern United States.
