Julinho (footballer, born 1929)

Júlio Botelho (October 29, 1929 – January 11, 2003), commonly known as Julinho, was a Brazilian footballer who played as a right winger. He is best known for his successful period at Fiorentina in Italy during the 1950s.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Julinho began his professional career in the late 1940s, playing for clubs such as Portuguesa. He was a dynamic and skillful player, known for his dribbling ability and accurate crosses. His performances in Brazil attracted the attention of European clubs.

In 1955, Julinho joined Fiorentina. He quickly became a key player for the Viola, contributing significantly to their success. He was a crucial part of the Fiorentina team that won the Serie A title in the 1955-56 season, their first ever Scudetto. He also helped the team reach the European Cup final in 1957, where they were defeated by Real Madrid.

Julinho was known for his pace, technique, and goal-scoring ability from the wing. He was also admired for his dedication and professionalism.

After leaving Fiorentina, Julinho returned to Brazil, where he played for Palmeiras. He retired from professional football in the early 1960s.

Julinho is remembered as one of the great Brazilian footballers to have played in Italy, and a key figure in Fiorentina's history. He died in 2003.
