Beniarrés
Beniarrés is a municipality located in the comarca of Comtat, in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. It is situated in the valley of the Serpis River, at the foot of the Sierra de Benicadell.
The village's economy is primarily based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of olives, almonds, and cherries. Tourism is also becoming increasingly important due to the area's natural beauty, including the Beniarrés Reservoir and hiking trails in the surrounding mountains.
Beniarrés has a rich history, dating back to Moorish times. The name "Beniarrés" is derived from the Arabic "Beni Arres," meaning "sons of Arres." The village retains some remnants of its Moorish past in its architecture and layout.
Local festivals include the patron saint festivities held in honor of Saint Peter in late June, and other religious and cultural celebrations throughout the year. The population of Beniarrés is relatively small, reflecting its rural character.
