ICRANet
ICRANet (International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network) is an international organization dedicated to promoting research in relativistic astrophysics and related areas. It was founded in 2003 through an international agreement among several countries and institutions, including Italy, the Vatican City State, and Armenia.
ICRANet's activities encompass a wide range of theoretical and observational astrophysics, with a focus on phenomena where general relativity plays a crucial role. Key research areas include black holes, neutron stars, gravitational waves, cosmology, and early universe studies.
The organization operates a network of centers and research facilities worldwide, fostering collaboration and providing opportunities for scientists and students to conduct research and participate in international conferences, workshops, and schools. These centers are located in various countries and offer access to advanced computational resources, libraries, and scientific expertise.
ICRANet aims to advance our understanding of the fundamental laws of physics governing the universe, particularly in extreme gravitational environments. It supports the development of new theoretical models and observational techniques, and it promotes the dissemination of scientific knowledge through publications, educational programs, and outreach activities. The organization plays a role in the training of young researchers and the development of scientific expertise in relativistic astrophysics across its member nations.
