Sahid Matangini (community development block)

Sahid Matangini is a community development block (C.D. Block) that is an administrative division forming the lowest level of the development administration hierarchy in the Tamluk subdivision of Purba Medinipur district, West Bengal, India. Community development blocks represent crucial units for planning and implementation of rural development programs.

The block is named in honour of Matangini Hazra, a prominent Indian independence activist who was shot dead by British police in Tamluk in 1942.

The primary function of the Sahid Matangini C.D. Block is to facilitate socio-economic development within its designated geographical area. This involves implementing government schemes related to agriculture, health, education, sanitation, poverty alleviation, and infrastructure development. The block administration also plays a vital role in coordinating various government departments and agencies to ensure effective delivery of services to the rural population. The C.D. Block boundaries define a specific administrative area for focused developmental efforts, facilitating better resource allocation and monitoring of progress.
