Peter Marshall (British broadcaster)
Peter Marshall (1936-2015) was a British radio and television broadcaster, best known for his long career with the BBC.
Marshall joined the BBC in 1959, initially working in regional news. He quickly transitioned to national radio, becoming a regular newsreader on BBC Radio 4's Today programme and The World at One. His calm and authoritative delivery made him a familiar voice to millions of listeners.
In addition to newsreading, Marshall presented a wide range of programmes for BBC radio and television, including current affairs programmes, documentaries, and arts coverage. He was a versatile broadcaster capable of handling both serious news and lighter entertainment.
Later in his career, Marshall became a voice-over artist, lending his distinctive voice to numerous commercials and documentaries. He retired from broadcasting in the late 1990s but remained a respected figure in the industry. He died in 2015.
