Brooks Pond (Massachusetts)
Brooks Pond is a 143-acre (58 ha) pond located in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, within Worcester County. It is part of the Sevenmile River watershed, which ultimately flows into the Quaboag River and then into the Connecticut River.
The pond is known for its recreational opportunities, including fishing, boating (canoeing and kayaking are popular), and swimming. Public access is available via a town-owned boat ramp located off West Warren Road.
Brooks Pond is typically considered a warm water fishery and is stocked with trout in the spring and fall by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Other fish species present include largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, and various panfish.
The surrounding area is primarily forested, contributing to the pond's relatively natural setting. Water quality is generally considered good, though it can be subject to seasonal algal blooms.
Historically, the pond may have been used for mill power during the industrial era, though specific historical records are limited. The pond's current use is primarily recreational and as a wildlife habitat.
