Branko Ružić (sculptor)
Branko Ružić (born January 7, 1919, Brod, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes – died January 25, 1997, Zagreb, Croatia) was a Croatian sculptor, painter, and art professor.
Ružić studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb under Frano Kršinić and Robert Frangeš-Mihanović, graduating in 1947. He later became a professor at the same academy, where he taught for many years, influencing generations of Croatian sculptors.
Ružić's work is characterized by its expressionistic style and exploration of the human figure. He often worked with bronze and stone, creating sculptures that convey a sense of emotional intensity and psychological depth. His sculptures often depict themes of suffering, struggle, and the human condition.
Beyond sculpture, Ružić was also a painter, creating works in oil and other media. His paintings often shared similar themes with his sculptures, exploring the complexities of human experience.
