Vicious Circle (band)

Vicious Circle is an Australian hardcore punk band formed in Brisbane, Queensland, in 1984. Known for their aggressive and politically charged lyrics, they are considered a seminal act in the Australian hardcore scene.

The band's original lineup consisted of frontman Tony McMahon, guitarist John Hay, bassist Paul Davies, and drummer Matt Horvath. Throughout their career, Vicious Circle has undergone several lineup changes, with McMahon remaining the only constant member.

Vicious Circle's music is characterized by its fast tempo, distorted guitars, and McMahon's distinctive vocal delivery, which often involves shouted and screamed vocals. Their lyrics address themes such as social injustice, political corruption, police brutality, and animal rights.

The band released several EPs and albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including "Search for the Solution" (1986), "Reflect the Lies" (1987), and "The Price of Progress" (1990). Their music gained a strong following within the Australian punk and hardcore community, and they toured extensively both nationally and internationally.

While Vicious Circle experienced periods of inactivity, they have continued to perform and release new music sporadically.
