Cherubs (American band)
Cherubs are an American noise rock band formed in Austin, Texas in 1991. Known for their abrasive sound, characterized by heavy, distorted guitars, unconventional song structures, and frontman Kevin Whitley's distinctive vocals, they were initially active until 1994.
The original lineup consisted of Kevin Whitley (vocals/guitar), Owen McMahon (bass), and Brent Prager (drums). During their initial run, the band released two full-length albums, Icing (1992) and Heroin Man (1994), both on Trance Syndicate Records. They gained a reputation for their intense live performances and developed a cult following within the noise rock scene.
Following their breakup in 1994, the members pursued other musical projects. However, Cherubs reunited in 2014 and have been active since, releasing new music including the albums 2 Ynfynyty (2015), Immaculada High (2019), and SLO BLO (2023). Their later work continues to showcase their signature sound while incorporating new elements. The band has toured extensively since their reunion, further solidifying their status as a significant act in the noise rock genre.
