Prince of Rui (Ming dynasty)
The Prince of Rui (芮王) was a princely title used during the Ming dynasty. It was a first-rank title, granted to sons of the Emperor. The title was held by a single line of descent, lasting for a relatively short period.
The first and only Prince of Rui was Zhu Yipai (朱翊鎣), the seventh son of the Longqing Emperor and Consort Jing. He was enfeoffed as the Prince of Rui in 1581, during the reign of his half-brother, the Wanli Emperor.
Zhu Yipai died young in 1583, without an heir. As he died without issue, the princedom of Rui was abolished upon his death, and the line became extinct. The title was not revived or granted to another individual. Therefore, the Prince of Rui represents a single-generation princely title within the Ming Dynasty.
