IWA World Tag Team Championship (International Wrestling Enterprise)

The IWA World Tag Team Championship was a professional wrestling tag team title contested for in International Wrestling Enterprise (IWE) in Japan from 1967 to 1981. It was considered one of the top tag team titles in Japan during its existence, rivaling the NWA International Tag Team Championship held primarily in Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance (JWA) and later All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW).

The championship was established in 1967, with the inaugural champions being Danny Hodge and Wilbur Snyder. The title was defended primarily in IWE, though defenses occasionally took place in other promotions. Prominent teams who held the championship included The Destroyer and Art Michalik, Killer Karl Krupp and Kurt Von Stroheim, and Strong Kobayashi and Great Kusatsu.

The championship was retired in 1981 when IWE ceased operations. The final champions were Rusher Kimura and Great Kusatsu. The title’s lineage and history are considered significant in the history of Japanese professional wrestling.
