Brackett House (Newton, Massachusetts)

The Brackett House is a historic house located at 114 Waltham Street in the Newton Corner village of Newton, Massachusetts. Built in 1857, it is a well-preserved example of Italianate architecture. The house is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, with a low-pitch hip roof and bracketed eaves characteristic of the style. Its front facade features a three-bay porch supported by Tuscan columns, and windows are typically tall and narrow, also typical of Italianate design.

The Brackett House is named for its original owner, Joseph Brackett, a local businessman. The house remained in the Brackett family for several generations.

The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is a contributing property to the Newton Corner Historic District. The Brackett House is considered a significant example of Italianate architecture in Newton and represents a notable period of residential development in the area.
