Sapphoa

Sapphoa is an archaic spelling of Sappho, the name of a Greek lyric poet who was born on the island of Lesbos around 630 BCE. She is renowned for her lyrical poetry, written in the Aeolic dialect of Greek, and is often celebrated for her exploration of female relationships and love. While only fragments of her work survive, they are highly influential and continue to be studied and admired. The modern term "lesbian," referring to female homosexuality, is derived from Sappho's association with the island of Lesbos and the themes of female same-sex attraction present in her poetry. The spelling "Sapphoa" is less common than "Sappho," but still appears in some older texts and contexts.
