Tun Tun Oo (politician)

Tun Tun Oo is a Burmese politician and lawyer. He served as Attorney General of Myanmar from 2016 to 2021, under the National League for Democracy (NLD) government led by President Htin Kyaw and later President Win Myint.

Prior to his appointment as Attorney General, Tun Tun Oo was a prominent lawyer known for his work defending political prisoners and human rights activists during the period of military rule in Myanmar. He was an advocate for legal reform and the rule of law.

As Attorney General, he was responsible for advising the government on legal matters, representing the government in legal proceedings, and overseeing the prosecution of criminal cases. His tenure was marked by efforts to improve the transparency and efficiency of the legal system, although challenges remained in addressing systemic issues within the judiciary.

Following the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état, Tun Tun Oo was among the senior NLD officials detained by the military. His current status and whereabouts remain a subject of concern.
