San Ignazio (Bilbao metro)
San Ignazio is a station on Line 1 and Line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the Deusto district of Bilbao, serving the neighborhoods of San Ignacio and Ibarrekolanda. The station is named after the nearby San Ignacio church and the San Ignacio neighborhood itself, which honors Ignatius of Loyola (San Ignacio de Loyola in Spanish), the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
The station has two entrances, one at Plaza San Ignacio and the other at Avenida Lehendakari Aguirre. The interior design follows the characteristic Norman Foster style of the Bilbao metro, featuring spacious halls and glass walls. San Ignazio is a popular station due to its proximity to residential areas, schools, and local businesses. It also provides convenient access to the University of Deusto. The station is fully accessible, with elevators connecting street level to the platforms. It serves as a key transport hub for residents and visitors alike, facilitating easy access to other parts of Bilbao and the wider metro network.
