Girl Overboard (band)
Girl Overboard was an Australian hard rock band formed in 1987 in Sydney. The group consisted of Paul Liddell on vocals, Andy Taylor on guitar, Buzz Bidstrup on drums, and Ruk Ricetti on bass. They were known for their energetic live performances and a sound blending hard rock with elements of glam metal and punk.
The band released two studio albums: Girl Overboard (1989) and Covergirl (1992). Their debut album featured the singles "I Can't Believe" and "The President's Wife," achieving some commercial success in Australia. Covergirl adopted a slightly heavier sound compared to their debut.
Girl Overboard toured extensively throughout Australia, supporting notable acts such as Guns N' Roses and Skid Row. Despite building a strong following and receiving positive reviews, the band ultimately disbanded in the mid-1990s. Members went on to pursue various other musical projects.
While Girl Overboard did not achieve widespread international fame, they remain a remembered act within the Australian hard rock scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their music is still available through streaming services and physical media.
