Wesmont station (NJ Transit)
Wesmont Station is a commuter rail stop on the New Jersey Transit Main Line. It is located in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, and serves both Wood-Ridge and the neighboring borough of Moonachie. The station opened in May 2016, providing a new transit option for residents and commuters in Bergen County.
The station features two high-level platforms serving trains traveling in both directions, to Hoboken Terminal and Secaucus Junction, and ultimately to New York Penn Station via Midtown Direct service. Wesmont Station includes amenities such as ticket vending machines, sheltered waiting areas, and bicycle racks. The station is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Wesmont Station is part of NJ Transit's Meadowlands Rail Line extension project, aiming to improve rail access to the Meadowlands Sports Complex and surrounding areas. Its opening was intended to alleviate congestion on local roads and offer a more sustainable transportation option for residents and visitors. Parking is available at the station, and it is also served by local bus routes. The station’s name, "Wesmont," is a combination of "Wood-Ridge" and "Moonachie," reflecting its location and the communities it serves.
