Bill Bell (American football)
Bill Bell (born December 26, 1940) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at West Virginia University from 1980 to 1990, compiling a record of 63–48–4. Prior to his tenure at West Virginia, Bell served as an assistant coach at several schools, including Virginia Tech and North Carolina State. He is credited with rebuilding the West Virginia football program, leading the Mountaineers to several bowl game appearances, including a Peach Bowl victory in 1981. While at WVU, he coached quarterback Major Harris. Bell resigned from West Virginia following the 1990 season.
