Charlier (lunar crater)
Charlier is a small lunar impact crater located in the northeastern part of the Mare Serenitatis. It is named after the Swedish astronomer Carl Vilhelm Ludwig Charlier. Its relatively small size and proximity to larger features means it is often overlooked in casual observation. While not particularly distinctive in morphology, it serves as a useful reference point for mapping the surrounding lunar mare. Its location within a relatively smooth mare region makes detailed study difficult due to a lack of prominent surrounding features for comparative analysis. Further research is needed to fully characterize its formation and geologic history.
