Neptune (The Duke Spirit album)
Neptune is the third studio album by the English rock band The Duke Spirit. It was released on February 13, 2012, in the United Kingdom and February 14, 2012, in the United States via Shangri-La Music.
The album's title, Neptune, is said to reflect the band's interest in themes of isolation, reflection, and exploration of inner space, akin to the vastness and mystery associated with the planet Neptune. Neptune was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Dave Sardy, known for his work with bands such as Oasis and Band of Horses.
The album generally received positive reviews, with critics noting the band's evolution towards a more expansive and textured sound compared to their previous work. Key characteristics of Neptune's sound include a mix of shoegaze influences, atmospheric elements, and the band's signature driving rock energy. Leah Hatherley's distinctive vocals are a prominent feature throughout the album.
