Tom Tupa

Tom Tupa (born February 6, 1966) is a former American football player who played quarterback, punter, and kickoff specialist in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons.

Tupa played college football at Ohio State University, where he primarily served as the team's punter, although he also saw some action at quarterback. He was drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals in the third round of the 1988 NFL Draft as a quarterback.

His NFL career spanned from 1988 to 2005, with stints on the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals (1988-1992), Cleveland Browns (1993-1995, 1999), Baltimore Ravens (1996-1998), New York Jets (2000-2001), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2002-2003) and Washington Redskins (2004-2005).

Tupa is notable for his versatility. He was proficient at both quarterback and punter, often switching between the roles during games. He is the only player in NFL history to throw a touchdown pass and punt a ball in the same game multiple times. He also served as a kickoff specialist at times in his career.

Tupa was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that won Super Bowl XXXVII against the Oakland Raiders. During that Super Bowl, he was the team's punter.

After retiring from the NFL, Tupa coached high school football.
