Muhannad (jihadist)

Muhannad (1981-2008), also known as Abu Anas al-Muhannad, was a prominent Saudi Arabian jihadist and a leading commander within Chechen separatist groups during the Second Chechen War and its aftermath. He was considered a key figure in the foreign fighter contingent operating in the North Caucasus.

Activities: Muhannad was involved in numerous operations against Russian federal forces in Chechnya and neighboring regions. He specialized in electronics and was responsible for the development and deployment of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which proved highly effective against Russian armored vehicles and personnel. He also played a significant role in recruiting and training foreign fighters, as well as managing the flow of funds and supplies to the Chechen insurgency.

Relationship with Other Leaders: Muhannad worked closely with other prominent Chechen commanders, including Shamil Basayev and Dokka Umarov.
