Juan López (cardinal)
Juan López (c. 1455 – 5 November 1501) was a Spanish Roman Catholic cardinal and archbishop. He is also known as Juan López de Medina.
Born in Medina del Campo, Spain, López served as a professor of canon law at the University of Salamanca. He later became auditor of the Roman Rota and was subsequently appointed bishop of Perugia in 1492.
Pope Alexander VI elevated López to the cardinalate in the consistory of 19 February 1496, assigning him the title of cardinal priest of Santa Maria in Trastevere. He was then appointed archbishop of Capua in 1498. López participated in the papal conclave of September 1503, which elected Pope Pius III, and again in the papal conclave of October 1503, which elected Pope Julius II.
Cardinal López died in Rome in November 1501 and was buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere.
