Stralauer Tor (Berlin U-Bahn)

Stralauer Tor was a Berlin U-Bahn station on the U1 line. It was located in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district of Berlin, near the Oberbaum Bridge. The station opened on August 16, 1902, as part of the original Stammstrecke (main line) of the U-Bahn, which ran between Warschauer Brücke (then Warschauer Straße) and Zoologischer Garten.

The station was damaged during World War II and, although initially repaired and reopened, it was permanently closed on September 10, 1945. This closure was a consequence of the division of Berlin and the disruption of U-Bahn services in the city. The station was located east of the Oberbaum Bridge, which became a border crossing between East and West Berlin. The U-Bahn line was cut at Warschauer Brücke, and Stralauer Tor was no longer served.

The station was eventually demolished in the early 1950s. Today, no visible remains of the station exist at street level. The track bed in the area still exists, and passing trains slightly decelerate as they navigate the area where the station once stood.
