Billy Lamont (speedway rider)

Billy Lamont was a Scottish speedway rider who competed in British speedway during the sport's post-war era, primarily in the 1950s and 1960s. He is best known for his long association with the Edinburgh Monarchs, where he became a popular and consistent performer.

Lamont began his speedway career with the Motherwell Eagles in 1949. He moved to the Edinburgh Monarchs in 1951 and remained a fixture in their team for over a decade, achieving notable success and becoming a crowd favorite due to his reliability and determined riding style. He was a key part of the Monarchs team that won the Scottish Cup in 1956.
