Deception (2013 American TV series)

Deception is an American crime drama television series that aired on NBC from January 7 to March 18, 2013. The show was created by Liz Heldens and starred Meagan Good as Joanna Locasto, a San Francisco police detective who returns to her former life as the socialite daughter of a wealthy family, the Bowers, to investigate the suspicious death of her childhood best friend, Vivian Bowers, the family heiress.

The premise of the series revolves around Joanna infiltrating the Bowers family, using her intimate knowledge of their dynamics and secrets, to uncover clues related to Vivian's death. Each member of the family has their own secrets and potentially played a role in the circumstances surrounding Vivian’s demise.

The main cast also included Victor Garber as Robert Bowers, Tate Donovan as Edward Bowers, Katherine LaNasa as Sophia Bowers, Ella Rae Peck as Mia Bowers, Laz Alonso as Will Moreno, and Marin Hinkle as Samantha Bowers.

Despite its initial promise and complex plotlines, Deception suffered from low ratings and was cancelled by NBC after one season. It consisted of 13 episodes. The central mystery of Vivian's death was resolved by the end of the season.
