HMS Andromache (1832)

HMS Andromache was a sixth-rate Royal Navy frigate launched in 1832. She was a 28-gun vessel, built of wood and designed by Sir William Symonds. Andromache formed part of the experimental brigs and frigates that Symonds designed early in his role as Surveyor of the Navy. She was notable for her innovative design, which prioritized speed and sailing performance.

Her service history included deployments to the Mediterranean, the West Indies, and the Pacific. She played a role in suppressing the slave trade off the coast of Africa and was also involved in survey work.

Andromache was eventually sold out of the service in 1851.
