Ladies' Man (1980 TV series)

Ladies' Man was an American sitcom that aired on CBS from January 29, 1980, to August 18, 1980. The series centered around Alan Thackeray, played by Lawrence Pressman, a recently divorced magazine columnist who finds himself working at a women's magazine called Woman's Life.

Alan, a self-proclaimed expert on women despite his recent divorce, struggles to navigate the predominantly female environment of the magazine. The show's humor derived from the clashes between Alan's traditional male perspective and the modern, feminist viewpoints of his female colleagues. Recurring characters included his boss, Nan Dillon (Karen Machon), and fellow magazine staff members Susan (Louise Sorel) and Amy (Diane Stilwell).

Created by Bill Persky and Sam Denoff, Ladies' Man faced low ratings and negative critical reception. Critics often cited the show's reliance on stereotypical gender roles and predictable storylines as its primary weaknesses. Despite a mid-season revamp intended to improve its appeal, the series was canceled after just one season and 14 episodes.

The show is not to be confused with the later 2000 film of the same name starring Tim Meadows, which has a completely different premise and set of characters.
