Aaron Hobart

Aaron Hobart (1787-1858) was an American politician and jurist from Massachusetts. He served as a United States Representative and a judge in the Massachusetts state court system.

Born in Abington, Massachusetts, Hobart graduated from Brown University in 1806. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1809, commencing his practice in East Bridgewater. He held several local and state offices before being elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first and Twenty-second Congresses, serving from 1829 to 1833.

Following his congressional service, Hobart resumed practicing law. He was appointed a Justice of the Court of Common Pleas in 1834 and later served as a Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts from 1847 until his death in 1858. He was a prominent figure in Massachusetts legal and political circles during the first half of the 19th century.
