Vibe (character)

Vibe, Francisco "Paco" Ramon, is a fictional superhero appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. He first appeared in Justice League of America Annual #2 (October 1984) and was created by Gerry Conway and Chuck Patton.

Vibe is notable for being one of the few Latino superheroes in DC Comics during the 1980s and for his unusual powers, derived from a dimensional warp caused by the villain Dr. Ivo. These powers allow him to generate powerful vibratory shockwaves, which he refers to as "vibrational frequencies," capable of shattering concrete and disrupting machinery. He can also use these powers to open interdimensional breaches, although he rarely displays precise control over this ability.

Francisco "Paco" Ramon was a street dancer in Detroit when he gained his powers. He then joined the Justice League of America, led by Aquaman, after the team's original members disbanded. He was killed by an android of Professor Ivo during the Legends crossover event, a casualty that highlighted the vulnerability of the revamped Justice League.

Despite his short tenure and initial mixed reception, Vibe has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years. He was resurrected during the Blackest Night event as a member of the Black Lantern Corps. A new version of Vibe, Cisco Ramon, appeared in DC's New 52 relaunch. This version, a metahuman with similar vibrational powers, played a significant role in various storylines and was adapted into the television series The Flash as a key supporting character. The Cisco Ramon version of Vibe also possesses the power to breach realities, making him a valuable asset in multiversal crises. His cheerful and often humorous personality provides a contrast to the often-serious tone of superhero comics. He is portrayed as a skilled engineer and is frequently involved in creating technology to aid his team.
