Shadow People (film)
Shadow People is a 2013 American found footage psychological thriller horror film written and directed by Matthew Arnold. The film stars Dallas Roberts, Alison Eastwood, and Anne Dudek.
The film follows a radio talk show host, Charlie Crowe (Roberts), who investigates the mysterious phenomenon of "shadow people" after his father dies in his sleep. He uncovers a series of unexplained deaths, all linked to sleep paralysis and visions of shadowy figures. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he encounters sleep researchers, conspiracy theorists, and victims plagued by the same terrifying experiences. Crowe struggles to maintain his sanity as he becomes increasingly convinced that a malevolent entity is responsible for the deaths and that he himself may be a target.
The film utilizes a found footage style, presented as a compilation of recordings, interviews, and documented experiences. Shadow People explores themes of sleep paralysis, psychological manipulation, government conspiracies, and the power of suggestion. It attempts to blur the lines between reality and hallucination, leaving the audience to question the true nature of the events unfolding on screen.
