Ava Luna
Ava Luna was an experimental indie rock band based in Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2008, the group was known for its complex arrangements, unconventional song structures, and the prominent use of layered vocal harmonies from multiple members. Their music often incorporated elements of soul, R&B, funk, and art-pop, creating a distinctive and genre-bending sound.
The band's core members included Carlos Hernandez, Becca Kauffman, Felicia Douglass, Ethan Bassford, and Julian Fader. Each member contributed vocals and played multiple instruments, contributing to the band's dense and dynamic sound.
Ava Luna released several albums, including "Electric Balloon" (2014) and "Infinite House" (2015), to critical acclaim. Their music explored themes of identity, technology, and social commentary, often presented through abstract and poetic lyrics.
Ava Luna officially disbanded in 2018 after a final performance in Brooklyn. Despite their relatively short lifespan, they left a significant mark on the independent music scene, influencing other artists with their innovative and challenging approach to songwriting and performance. Several former members have gone on to pursue individual projects and collaborations within the music industry.
