Sendai Station (宮城, Sendai-eki) is a major railway station located in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. It serves as the primary transportation hub for the Sendai metropolitan area and the greater Tohoku region. The station is operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), and is also a terminal for the Sendai Subway.

History:

The original Sendai Station was opened in 1887. The current station building was completed in 1978. Damage caused by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami was repaired, and the station has since been fully restored.
